Course Description:
Serious accident and injuries such as severe lacerations and amputations can result from inadequate or inappropriate machine guarding. The aim of this training module is to inform learners about the different types of machine guards that are used in the workplace, the critical elements of machine guarding, common pitfalls with machine guards and associated safe work practices. Following completion of this course, learners will understand why guards are used, where guards should be used, the four main risks associated with mechanical hazards, the responsibilities different work groups have for guarding, and the five main types of guards.

Testing conducted throughout this course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to repeat the course if the pass mark is not achieved.
