Bloodborne pathogens are microorganisms found in human blood, which can infect and cause disease to those exposed. This module provides in depth information on Bloodborne pathogen exposure control principles, practices, and requirements. This training is designed for all employees who work with human blood, blood products or human tissues, fluids, or cells that are considered 'other potentially infectious materials' or have the potential to come into contact with any of the above.
Learners will be taught how Bloodborne pathogens are spread and how to help prevent exposure incidents by following work practice controls. Topics include engineering controls, personal protective equipment, personal hygiene, cleaning/disinfecting equipment and supplies, and recognizing, reporting and following up on exposures to infectious materials.
