This module will provide basic safety knowledge for persons working within a kitchen environment, including kitchen equipment, knives, and storage. Good housekeeping will be covered in full detail, which includes organization of shelves and storage, clean up of spills, inspections, routine cleaning duties, and regular waste removal.
Some other kitchen safety related topics that this course will cover include: racking and storage of kitchen utilities, material handling and proper lifting procedures, spill response procedures, preventing slip trips and falls, ladders and step stools, kitchen equipment safety, PPE and hazard reporting.

Testing conducted throughout this course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to repeat the course if the pass mark is not achieved.
