This course discusses some basic hazards of working with isocyanate and the steps required to ensure a proper isocyanate control program is in place. Isocyanates consist of compounds that contain the isocyanate group of chemicals, and are also the raw materials that are used to create polyurethane products. They can cause extreme irritation to a person but at the same time some people become sensitized to them, which means that even brief exposure can cause serious side-effects later in life.
This training module will cover information on the routes of entry, health effects, applicable legislation, roles and responsibilities, assessment, controls for the prevention of accidents and proper PPE.
