This course is designed for learners in a variety of facilities and settings such as acute care, community, Public Health, Long Term Care Homes, Retirement Homes, Housekeepers, First Responders and Support Services, Food Handling or Retail. This online course is designed to be a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practice of infection prevention and control.
Topics covered include sharp contact risks and preventative measures, hand washing to prevent illness, cleaning up hazardous biological spills (such as urine, blood or vomit), respiratory protection, air purifiers, use and care of respirators, roles and responsibilities and safe food handling.

Testing conducted throughout this course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to repeat the course if the pass mark is not achieved.
